Daylight Savings Time and Cascade Server

We’ve had several clients ask us about whether Cascade Server will be affected by the U.S. change in Daylight Savings Time.  Although Cascade Server itself isn’t affected, it’s always a good idea to have the latest Java installed, and check with your database vendors for any updates.

SUN Microsystems has published online information on DST.  We recommend you install J2SE 5.0 Update 6 or later (J2SE 1.4.2_11 or later if using a Cascade Server version older than 4.0) or apply the issued patch from Sun with tzupdater tool.

For database vendors:

Microsoft and DST changes
Oracle and DST changes

No patch is needed for MySQL, since it uses the system time, but check with your operating system vendor for any applicable patches.

Please note that some countries are still evaluating whether they will adopt the new rules for themselves so we should anticipate more changes in DST and time zone rules for countries that typically align with U.S. DST rules.
