Overlibs

When viewing a page in the Layout setting of the View tab, overlibs are the block icons or page icons that appear in the top left corner of each region on a page.  They contain links to edit or view different assets.  When clicked, they display options that may allow the user to perform the follwing tasks, depending on what the page or region contains:

  • edit page
  • edit page inline
  • edit format
  • edit block
       - or -
  • view page
  • view block
  • view format

Concept

Overlibs are made up of two parts:

ICON ('page' or 'block') - what is displayed in the top left corner of each region

POP-UP - the list of options that is displayed once the icon is clicked

The overlibs in the Default region of a page display different options than those in other regions, so they are explained here in more detail.

DEFAULT REGION

    Default Region Icons

  • 'Page' icon is displayed if a block is not assigned.
  • 'Block' icon is displayed if a block is assigned.
  • Does not display any icon if there are no options to display in the pop-up, or if the only option is the Link to a Page Line without a 'pencil' icon.

    Default Region Pop-ups

  • Pop-ups are displayed when a user clicks on a 'page' icon for that region.
  • Pop-ups will contain at least one of the following options:
    • Link to a Page Line
    • Link to a Page Line
    • Edit Inline Line
    • Edit Inline Line
    • Link to a Block Line
    • Link to a Block Line
    • Link to a Stylesheet Line
    • Link to a Stylesheet Line
