Site Import Tool

The Site Import Tool automates many of the tasks that go into setting up a new site in Cascade Server. Based on an uploaded page, the system creates a template, content regions, blocks, an asset factory, a site folder structure, and administrative components.

To import a site:

  1. On the Tools menu, select Import -> New Site .
  2. Enter a Site Name . This is the name that will be used for the site's base folder, as well as all containers and components in the Administration area.
  3. If you have a webpage upon which you would like to base a new template, select it in the folder chooser for Template Upload .
  4. If you have included a template, zip any required files and select it in the folder chooser for Zip Upload.
  5. Click Submit .

Your new site folder will appear in the asset tree. The following assets are automatically created:

  • Base Folder
  • _ internal folder
    • asset factories folder
      • This is an asset factory based on the template page.
    • blocks folder
      • These are new blocks based on the content regions found in the uploaded template.
    • stylesheets folder
    • templates folder
      • This is a template, which includes content regions that are based on the uploaded template.
  • page_files folder (this will be named according to the uploaded zip's name)
    • These are all of the files found in the uploaded zip.

In the Administration area, you will see that the following containers and components have been created:

  • Group (named after the site name)
  • Asset Factory container (named after the site name)
