For a lot of our clients, implementing Cascade Server is their first time using XML or XSL. As a Technical Trainer here at Hannon Hill, I always keep an eye out for resources and tools to make the learning curve a little less steep. www.w3schools.com offers many XML and XSL tutorials that are free and really easy (dare I say fun?) to use. www.w3schools.com is a site run by Refsnes Data, a Norwegian software development and consulting company that saw a need and, from my experience, is doing a great job at filling it.
One thing I especially like is that each tutorial offers a single example that is carried throughout the entire section, so you really get a sense of context as you’re moving through the tutorial.
Another big plus is the online quizzes that let you test your skills. I love being able to take an initial quiz as a benchmark. And since you can retake the quiz at any time, you can monitor your improvement and readiness for the next topic. Each quiz contains about twenty questions, and any wrong answers are displayed at the end – giving you a chance to identify the areas where you need more help.
Although XML and XSL are the languages I get asked about most often, there’s tons more on offer here - (X)HTML, CSS, Web Services, Javascript, .NET…. I could go on and on, but you can check it out for yourself. Thanks, Refsnes Data!
