WordPress Connector Highlights Upcoming Release of Cascade Server 6.4

By Chris Armistead
Saturday, August 29th, 2009 at 2:00pm

As we look forward to the upcoming final release of Cascade Server 6.4, we wanted to give insight into some of the features you can expect in this feature release.  Cascade Server 6.4 will introduce a framework for a new layer of customization which will be made available through connectors.  These connectors will be the bridge between Cascade Server and other best-of-breed 3rd-party applications.

Just to give you a little insight on how connectors will work, they will be represented as a new asset type within the Administration area of Sites.  This will allow you to work with other applications from inside Cascade Server.

We don't want to give away all the upcoming connectors just yet, but one of the connectors in Cascade Server 6.4 is a WordPress Connector that will allow Cascade content to be synchronized with a WordPress instance.  In plain terms, this connector will allow Cascade users to seamlessly publish WordPress blogs to their sites from inside Cascade.  Because blog functionality continues to be of growing interest to our customer base, many organizations have already been expressing their excitement over this new feature.

Hannon Hill is excited about the WordPress Connector coming in Cascade Server 6.4 but it is by no means the only feature coming in this next release.  Subscribe to our blog to stay up to date about company news and some of the other great features coming up in Cascade Server 6.4.

Need to Extend your Stay in Atlanta for the Conference?

By Morgan Griffith
Thursday, August 20th, 2009 at 2:00pm

We've had 15 or so requests from attendees of the 2009 Cascade Server User's Conference to extend their stays in Atlanta (and at the conference site) for one to two days. We wanted to post a quick blog to let all of our attendees know, if you'd like to stay an extra night or two, we can make those arrangements for you. Please email Chris Armistead, Client Advocate at Hannon Hill, and just let him know how many additional days you'll be staying, and our team will coordinate with the conference site to secure your room.

For those of you who haven't already registered, we only have 5 more rooms available with Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, so sign up as soon as you can. We've gotten a lot of demand for this year's conference, and have secured an extra block of rooms with our site to accommodate this demand. However, the availability of single rooms is dimishing, so make sure to register soon.

We will continue to make Day Rate registration available through the month of August for those of you who may sign-up late or are local to Atlanta. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Chris Armistead, and he'll be glad to help you out.

We look forward to seeing all of you in Atlanta in September and sharing some exciting Cascade Server sessions and news with our community!

By Uran Piedra
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 at 2:20pm

In our last blog post, we mentioned that we had only one room left for the 2009 Cascade Server User's Conference and were in the process of trying to secure more rooms with our conference center.  Fortunately for all of you who want to attend but haven't yet registered, we were able to secure a few more single rooms at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center. We are down to only six of those rooms left, so be sure to sign up soon before we sell out!

At this year's conference, for the first time, we are offering an Introduction to Cascade Server session for new users, both business and technical.  This session led by our acclaimed Hannon Hill Professional Services Trainer, Ross Williams and Director of Strategic Accounts, Blaine Herman and will cover the basic functionality and benefits of Cascade Server.

We have had a tremendous response to this year's conference, and we are very excited to welcome all of you to Atlanta in just a few short weeks! Register now to secure one of the few remaining spots at the 2009 Cascade Server User's Conference!

Ready...Set...Launch! - 2009 Cascade Server User's Conference

By Uran Piedra
Friday, August 7th, 2009 at 2:45pm

As many of you are probably aware from our last blog post, we are getting low on rooms for the 2009 Cascade Server User's Conference.  In fact, we only have one room left. However, we are in the process of trying to secure more rooms at the conference site. These will be available on a case-by-case basis, so if you still wish to attend the conference and will be needing accommodations, contact Uran Piedra.

In our last blog we also mentioned our conference theme for this year -- "Ready...Set...Launch!"  What we haven't told you yet is why this is the theme.

There are a few reasons why we chose this theme.  The first, and probably the most obvious, is that Cascade Server is used to launch and power websites.  We are committed to creating and improving Cascade Server to give people and organizations the power to manage their web content with ease, which brings me to the next reason we chose this conference theme.

Earlier this year we launched the Cascade Server 6-series.  The 6-series is focused around the notion of Sites, a feature that debuted in 6.0, where users are now able to effectively segment out and manage content and configurations relevant to a particular site. The web content management processes of many of our client organizations, especially those in higher education, can be described as highly decentralized. For these organizations, there is a constant need for an effective way to allow multiple people to manage multiple websites from one system.  Thus, Sites were added to Cascade to provide users with a formal solution to do so.

Additionally, we have several client speakers joining us this year who have recently launched some pretty cool sites using Cascade Server.  Wendy Darling, Communications Specialist for Health Sciences Communications at Emory University will be speaking on how to effectively plan a redesign in her session using the Woodruff Health and Sciences Center website as her example.

And finally, since our last user's conference, we've launched our Cascade Server Customer Success Community.  This community space is designed to bring together our clients and staff in an arena designed for sharing ideas and thoughts and discussing all things related to Cascade Server.

So, we hope you will join us this year as we launch our best conference yet!

See you in Atlanta!

Only 6 Rooms Left for the '09 Cascade Server User's Conference

By Morgan Griffith
Monday, August 3rd, 2009 at 3:30pm

We've gotten a great response rate to this year's Cascade Server User's Conference. As demand continues to grow and room numbers continue to dwindle (we have less than 10 left!) we wanted to remind you of some of the important benefits of attending this year's conference. Below, we've outlined the top 10 reasons to attend this year's conference:

  1. A "new user" session - which will last for two hours on the first day of the conference. This session is geared towards new Cascade users and will be led by our Hannon Hill Trainer, Ross Williams.
  2. Planning for a redesign - with Wendy Darling, Communications Specialist for Emory University's Health Sciences Center. Wendy will walk us through the steps Emory took in the redesign of it's Woodruff Health and Sciences Center to demonstrate proper project planning, information architecture set-up, and pre-implementation steps that improve the final redesign product.
  3. A great opportunity to network and collaborate - The Cascade Server User's Conference brings together a variety of Cascade users from a variety of fields and skill-levels. We're bringing back our "Birds of a Feather" session, which will allow users with similar responsibilities and of similar skill-sets to share best practices and ideas.
  4. Integrating Flash - Louisa Nicholson, Web Designer at Beacon Technologies, will walk our users through using XSLT and XML to more efficiently integrate Flash projects with a Cascade-powered website.
  5. Web Services - Many of our users have told us in their post-conference surveys that they'd benefit greatly from an in-depth session on using Web Services with Cascade. Trainer Ross Williams will use this session to explore Web Services in more depth and answer any user questions related to Web Services.
  6. Open House - Our Conference Open House is always a great way to take a break from all the structured learning of the Conference, while still learning informally by engaging in conversation with the Hannon Hill team and other Cascade users. Marked this year by an even better venue (our new penthouse office), and a variety of food and drink, attend this year's conference and get an opportunity to mingle with the largest single group of Cascade Server users you'll find in one place.
  7. Get Smart about your implementation - with Justin Klingman, Manager of Web Design and Content Management at Beacon Technologies. Justin will walk users through a variety of topics, from integration with 3rd-party applications, to Search Engine Marketing (SEM) efforts, to tips on training end-users.
  8. SWAG! - This year, our User's Conference SWAG (Stuff We All Get) is better than ever. Without ruining the surprise, I'll just say that there will be lots of fun gear that relates to our conference theme of "ready... set... launch!"
  9. Get a glimpse into the future -in a "Cascade Server Roadmap" session hosted by Bradley Wagner, Director of Engineering at Hannon Hill. Bradley will discuss future plans for Cascade Server, including the addition of some notable features in upcoming releases.
  10. Get your questions answered - Finally, we always try to make ourselves as available to Cascade users and their questions as possible. However, if you have a burning question that you'd like to discuss in-person, or have an idea or suggestion that slipped through the cracks, not to worry! The Cascade Server User's Conference brings together a large portion of the Hannon Hill team who will be on-site to answer your questions. So, if you can't get your question answered during one of our informative sessions, we invite you to bring it to our team; we'll all be easily identifiable in our own Hannon Hill polo shirts this year, so locating one of our available team members will be even easier.
