Recycle Bin & Twitter Connector Announced at 2009 Cascade Server User's Conference
By Morgan Griffith
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 at 9:15am
At most software conferences, it would be rare to hear an uproar from attendees reminiscent of a college football game. Yesterday, that's exactly what we heard from the Cascade Server User's Conference attendees. When David Klanac, Chief Operating Officer of Hannon Hill announced the upcoming addition of a recycle bin to Cascade Server, the enthusiasm from Cascade CMS users was evident. The addition of a recycle bin is the most requested item from users on Hannon Hill's Cascade Server Idea Exchange. Hannon Hill has used this idea exchange as a way to promote user feedback on the product and consistently uses this feedback to incorporate user-requested features in Cascade Server releases.
In addition to the announcement of the web content management (WCM) system's new recycle bin, Hannon Hill also announced its surprise addition of a Twitter Connector to the system, which automatically tweets designated content from Cascade.
After establishing an official Twitter hashtag for the Conference (#csuc09), there were over 400 tweets using #csuc09 on day one of the conference. Users were tweeting their feedback on sessions and things they are looking forward to, such as user Winston Churchill-Joell (@wjoell), who tweeted. "many thanks to Hannon Hill for their warm hospitality and a great conference so far #csuc09."
We'll be blogging again with updates on day two of the Cascade Server User's Conference and are looking forward to the remaining conference sessions and many more discussions via Twitter to come.

By Morgan Griffith
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 at 12:30pm
With more than 120 colleges and universities already using Cascade Server for campus web content management, Hannon Hill has added the University of Regina to its international higher education community.
Located in Saskatchewan, the University of Regina enrolls over 12,000 students and joins seven fellow Canadian institutions of higher education currently using Cascade Server as their campus web content management system:
- McMaster University
- Queen's University - School of Business
- George Brown College
- University of New Brunswick
- University of Saskatchewan
- University of Western Ontario
- University of Western Ontario - Richard Ivey School of Business
Like its peers listed above, the University of Regina shared the common objective to eliminate the disparate commercial and open source CMS products in use across campuses by consolidating under a single campus-wide web content management system. Proven in the higher-education industry, Cascade Server has shown to be scalable in an enterprise-wide fashion and easy for non-technical contributors, making it the ideal solution for universities such as Regina.
Look for more details about University of Regina and their use of Cascade Server in the near future!

Registration Closes Today for Cascade Server User's Conference
By Morgan Griffith
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009 at 12:30pm
With less than two weeks until the Cascade Server User's Conference, we hope that your organizational attendees are as excited as we are for what's in store. This year's conference is packed with truly beneficial sessions for all Cascade Server users. We've made some important updates to the User's Conference schedule, and recommend attendees check out the latest version of the schedule to get an idea of which sessions they'll be attending.
One of the schedule changes made over the last week is the addition of our Cascade Server User's Conference Keynote Speaker, Tony White, who is an analyst with the Gilbane Group. His presentation will be an all-hands session that will touch on key web content management (WCM) industry trends, outlooks, and how Cascade Server fits into that puzzle.
This year's User's Conference is highlighted by some additional great new features, including a new user training session, our new and improved "Birds of a Feather" session, and some interesting perks, such as a WCM documentation request dropbox and a video testimonial station, to give Cascade Server users the opportunity to share testimonials about their experience with web content management.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to network with over 100 Cascade Server users all in one place, here in Atlanta on September 28-29. Conference registration officially closes today. We are looking forward to seeing all of you and spending two full days collaborating around Cascade Server.

Keys to CMS Project Implementation Success - Part 1
By Kat Liendgens
Thursday, September 10th, 2009 at 12:30pm
Part 1: What to think about before embarking on a project implementation
As manager of the Professional Services division of Hannon Hill, which works with clients to perform Cascade Server implementations, site migrations, site redesigns, and pilot site projects, I get to communicate with a variety of different Cascade Server users. Our team is determined to make each implementation of Cascade Server a smooth transition, a pleasant experience for our customers and their organizations, and an opportunity for better end user adoption. During the implementation and integration processes, our clients often ask if there is anything that they can do in order to make the project successful. The answer is yes.
One of the most crucial steps your organization can take to ensure project success is to achieve early buy-in from end-user stakeholders. After all, it is the users for whom the investment in a CMS is made in the first place. Therefore, it is important for these content contributors to understand the many benefits of the new CMS and for these users to become actively engaged in the planning, implementation, and user acceptance testing processes. To help streamline this process, we recommend that you identify a project sponsor prior to embarking on a services project with Hannon Hill. The project sponsor should facilitate the process early on by understanding current content management challenges and needs.
Stay tuned for the second part in this series where we'll discuss how to approach selecting the project scope and planning for implementation.

Indiana University Sets WCM Standards for Campus-Wide Adoption
By Morgan Griffith
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 at 10:00am
With more than 100,000 students on eight campuses across the state of Indiana, Indiana University is a large and decentralized institution demonstrating a compelling dedication to innovation. After recently embarking on one of the largest optional campus-wide web content management system implementations vendors have seen to date, the school is furthering its position as an institution that values both educational research and technological innovation.
Having launched six websites powered by Cascade Server after garnering the solution in mid-2008, the school is already seeing overwhelming benefits from use of a centrally managed web content management system. These benefits and specific experiences from the team at IU can be found in our latest client case study with Indiana University.
IU campus and user adoption of the system has been broad. In addition to the six sites already up and running with Cascade Server, later this year IU plans to launch thirteen additional sites, all of which will be managed in Cascade Server.
