Velocity Formats were introduced in Cascade Server 5.7 and since have had numerous improvements to give them functionality nearly as broad as XSLT. The Date Tool allows you to use the full capabilities of the Java Date class to do date math, formatting, and comparisons. The XPath tool allows you to use the familiar select and match syntax of XSLT to quickly drill down into structured data or an index block. The Sort tool adds flexible sorting that equals and goes beyond XSLT's sorting capabilities. All this, and there are a few extras to make Velocity usable on a day-to-day basis.
