Creating and Rolling Out a Standardized Web Template System at Emory University
John Mills, Executive Producer & Lee Clontz, Multimedia Developer, Emory University
One of Emory University's simplest, most effective means to project a strong, distinct identity around the globe is to integrate their many disparate web sites into one compelling design. In August of 2008, Emory launched a redesigned main site in Cascade and began development of a policy-mandated "Standard Template System" based on that design for deployment to unit web sites. The template system has now been extended to more than 40 unit web sites, with Cascade Server at the core. Nearly all of Emory's major schools and most business divisions are either already using or developing their sites into the system. This session details the challenges of strategy, business process and technology the project faced and solved, and what's on the horizon.
