Use Indexing, Metadata, XSLT and SSIs to Get the Most out of Your News Content
Winston Churchill-Joell, Director of Interactive Media, Sarah Lawrence College
News items—from little snippets and announcements to full-length featured editorial— are essential in keeping an institution’s Web site current and engaging. The keys to using this content effectively are useful metadata, syndication and context.
In this session, Winston Churchill-Joell will briefly look at the strategy SLC has used in Cascade Server to manage, relate and syndicate news content throughout the site. He’ll cover the use of Asset Factories, Data Definitions and Metadata to manage the creation and categorization of news types. Then he’ll look at the XSLT used to generate various outputs including home page listings, global news footer, related items and RSS.
