What are these? A New Icon

You might have noticed a new “Page Option” in the upper right of the Hannon Hill website. The new option, “What are these?”, is designed to educate site visitors about the benefits of content repurposing. Content repurposing allows a single piece of information to be reformatted into a variety of outputs automatically. Typical outputs include HTML, printer friendly HTML, and WML. Cascade Server makes this functionality readily available.

Scheduled Cascade Server Enhancements

We have several short-term enhancements scheduled for Cascade Server. Three new items currently in development:

• Selectable content types for index blocks
• Improved user management system
• Database optimizer

Cascade Server Technology Tip (structured data definitions)

Structured data definitions within the software represents a way of capturing pure information via forms input. Some administrators may need a fine-grained structured data output for content being input into a page. For example, a press release with 3 paragraphs, an image, the PR Contact information, and the Company Description.

An XML file is used to create a form, which content contributors must abide by in order to submit new press releases to the system. While administrators can create these structured data XML files to meet their exact needs, the software provides default XMLstructured data definitions that are commonly used. One such structured data definition involves the creation of a press release.

Structured data definitions captured by the software are generated with the associated page in pure XML form. The Structured data can be passed through an XSL stylesheet for rendering on a specific device or it can be passed straight through as pure XML for syndication to another site.
