Cascade Server Release Schedule Updates and 6.2 Release Information
Earlier this year, we made some changes to our Cascade Server release schedule, and we wanted to make you aware of these updates. In the past, we've had a feature release once a quarter with bug fix releases in between. Recently however, we've relaxed this rigid quarterly release timeline with the goal of increasing our QA and testing time, which in turn will lead to more solid software releases. Prior to releasing the final version of Cascade Server 6.0, we released a public beta and received an overwhelmingly positive response. The beta was available for download on our Cascade Server Success Community, where we also created an idea exchange for feedback. Doing so allowed us to gauge user responses and hear improvement ideas from those who use our software, our clients. Due to the success the 6.0 public beta, we will now make a public beta available prior to each new feature release. On that note, we currently have a pubic beta of 6.2 available for download on our Success Community, and will be releasing the final version of Cascade Server 6.2 next week. This release contains the ability to share templates and link across Sites, as well as improvements to Cascade's Velocity capabilities and Script Formats, amongst others.
Setting Up a Test Instance of Cascade Server
We recently realized that many of our clients are not aware that they are entitled to a Cascade Server test license free of charge as part of their standard license agreement. There are several benefits to setting up a test instance of Cascade, including the ability to test all Cascade Server upgrades against a copy of your production content and gain insight into how long an upgrade might take, without risking any impact on content or configurations. By setting up a test instance, your organization can see how the new release will affect your site content and make sure that your site is behaving as expected.
2009 Cascade Server User's Conference Updates
It's been a busy month at Hannon Hill with the planning of the Cascade Server User's Conference well under way, and we have a few updates to share with you. First, the 2009 User's Conference Schedule is now available! We have packed the two-day conference with a great mix of client and Hannon Hill staff speakers that we think will give the most beneficial presentations for our attendees. Another bonus to this year's conference is a two hour new user session, which will help bring new end-users and technical users of Cascade Server up to speed with the capabilities and functionality of the software. Second, the conference rate will increase in one week, on July 1st. The new rates will be $850 for single occupancy, $750 for double occupancy, and $450 for day rate admission, so register now to secure your spot at the lower rate.
