The log files for the application can be found in two places.

## From within the Cascade CMS interface

Users with access to the Administration area can obtain log files from the application:

1. Click **Administration**.
1. In the **Tools** section, click [Logs and System Information](https://www.hannonhill.com/cascadecms/latest/articles/cascade-administration/administration-tools/logs-and-system-information.html).

The log file for the current day is named *cascade.log* — sort by the **Name** column to bring it to the top of the list. Logs from previous days include the date in their names, for example *cascade.log.2017-01-01*.

## On the machine where Cascade CMS is installed

Administrators with access to the server can find the log files in the *tomcat/logs* directory inside the Cascade CMS installation directory:

- Windows: *C:\Program Files\Cascade CMS\tomcat\logs*
- Linux: */home/cascade/tomcat/logs*
