If you're working in a WYSIWYG editor, you add an image by uploading it to Cascade CMS first, then browsing for it in the editor.

1. Upload your image by clicking **Add Content** and using an appropriate file option.
    - These options are set up by your CMS administrator, so they may be named something like "File" or "Image".
    - If you don't see any file options in the **Add Content** menu, contact your CMS administrator or web team.
1. Click the **Insert/Edit image** button, browse for the file you just created, and add descriptive alternative text.
1. Optionally, click the image to select it, then use the alignment buttons in the toolbar to apply a float and control text wrapping.

> Alternative text is not optional for accessibility. For guidance on writing it well, see the [WYSIWYG guide](https://www.hannonhill.com/cascadecms/latest/articles/content-authoring/wysiwyg-guide-images-pdfs-tables-video.html).
