Customer Spotlight: Indiana Wesleyan University

Indiana Wesleyan University is one of our newer customers, having selected Cascade Server as their CMS back in April of 2015. By June 16, Indiana Wesleyan’s website was fully integrated in Cascade Server and the content had been migrated. We recently spoke with Evan Eikenberry, who is the University’s Digital Content Manager, about the incredibly short time frame in which the team was able to implement their site in Cascade Server.

How long did it take you to be proficient in Cascade Server?

Evan: We played around in the sandbox for a couple weeks and after the training session with Uzo, we were pretty confident about moving forward with the project. Throughout the process we learned something new everyday. It was a pretty easy transition from our other CMS.

How long did it take you to integrate your website in Cascade Server?

Evan: A total of about 3 months, We started working in the sandbox in the beginning of March, had training in Atlanta in mid-March. After the training, we spent about a month working on configuration. At the end of April we went on a content freeze and by June 16 we launched our site with Cascade Server hosted by Beacon Technologies.

How many page types (Content Types) did you create?

Evan: Probably about 20 content types. If we created a specific configuration set for a specific folder we also created a content type for it. A majority of our pages are using a modified Bootstrap Data Definition from the Code Exchange and have a different call out section (contact info, address, request info form, etc) at the right and a left sidebar navigation.

How many pages did you migrate, and how did you migrate them?

Evan: I’d say we migrated about 1750 pages of content and about 98% of those pages were migrated using Hannon Hill’s universal migration tool.

What difference has Cascade Server made for you thus far?

Evan: Performance: In switching to a push architecture system, we are noticing significant performance increase. Also we have seen an increase in CMS performance. During our content freeze I was asked to make an immediate change. It took 10 minutes in our old system to log in, edit and publish the page. It took about a minute to make the change in Cascade Server and could have been quicker if we had the quick edit feature functioning on the site.

What are some of your upcoming web projects?

Evan: We are hoping to bring the alumni site into Cascade Server by August 1. In addition. We are looking at basically restructuring and redesigning the entire site over the next two years.

Congratulations, Indiana Wesleyan University, on a successful and expeditious rollout of Cascade Server. Rumor has it that they may be nominated for the Lightning Bolt Cassie Award this year….
