In 2017, we expanded our marketing team to include a new role dedicated to the creation, curation, and circulation of entertaining and informative content. In this employee spotlight, we learn a bit more about the person behind that process, Patrice Meadows, and how she fits into the Hannon Hill team.

Let’s learn a little more about Patrice!

How did you first learn about Hannon Hill?

I signed up with an agency to help with my job search. My recruiter recommended that I pursue this opportunity because of my prior experience working with software companies.

What drew you to us originally?

I worked with software companies in a previous role and thought it would be interesting to work for one directly. I also loved the location and office environment.

What do you find most challenging about working at Hannon Hill?

It’s definitely been hard to understand the coding and development enough to translate it into marketing messages that resonate with our audience. I think it’s really important to understand what our technical users are trying to achieve and how we can help. It’s been an adventure so far, but I know way more than I did when I started.

How do you balance your career at Hannon Hill and family?

Hannon Hill is definitely the most flexible company I’ve worked with in terms of managing work and family. Our leaders understand how important it is to be present and successful in both realms, so they give us the room we need to make it work.

What does true leadership mean to you?

True leadership is about bringing people together. To do it well, leaders have to understand their team’s abilities, motivations, and limitations.

And now for some fun questions....

What is the best vacation you’ve been on?

I don’t know that this counts as a vacation or not, but when President Obama was elected for the first time, me and my best friend from high school piled in my old, beat up Mercury Cougar and road tripped to Washington for the Inauguration. It was bitterly cold and grossly overcrowded (understatement), but I’m so happy I did it. It was an incredible moment in that I’ll never forget.

What is your favorite blog or website?

The Honest Toddler blog, no contest. When I became a mother I discovered that  (1) mommy blogs are a thing and (2) many of them are annoyingly similar. When I happened upon THT, I was pleasantly surprised by its humor and honesty. Unlike many mommy blogs, THT doesn’t fawn over tired life hacks, crafts, or healthy snacks; it simply makes light of everyday situations and lets readers know that imperfection is not only okay-- it’s normal.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

Try to see the other side. It’s really easy to go through life constantly thinking that you’re right and other people are stupid. It’s harder to truly consider an alternate view and adjust your position.

What is your favorite thing to do in Atlanta?

I love live music and really enjoy discovering new places to see local bands or national acts. Atlanta has a great mix of large venues and intimate spots to experience live shows.
