Bulk Change

The Bulk Change tool lets you apply new Content Types, Metadata Sets, or Data Definitions to multiple assets at one time.

Before you begin: Bulk Change can cause data loss if fields don't match between old and new assignments. Always test on a small number of assets first.

The Bulk Change tool lets you reassign a Content Type, Metadata Set, or Data Definition across multiple assets in a Folder at once.

  1. 1

    Open Bulk Change

Navigate to any Folder and click More > Bulk Change. You can also right-click the Folder and select it from the context menu.

  2. 2

    Choose a property to change

From the Property to change dropdown, select Content Type, Metadata Set, or Data Definition.

  3. 3

    Configure the new assignment

For Content Type or Data Definition, select the new value to apply. For Metadata Set, you'll also choose which asset types to target (Folders, Files, Blocks, and/or Links).

  4. 4

    Set the scope

Optionally check Include all descendants of the folder to apply the change to assets in sub-Folders. Without this, only the Folder's direct children are eligible.

  5. 5

    Select assets and submit

Review the table of eligible assets, check the ones you want to change, and click Submit.

Quick Reference

Content Type & Data Definition — For best results, make sure fields in the new assignment match the existing one. Mismatched fields can result in lost content.

Metadata Set — Double-check that the new set includes any fields your templates or workflows depend on.
