How can I check what a User can do in a specific Site?

Overview

A user’s abilities in a Site will be determined by the Site Role that they are assigned to for that Site. There are a couple of very handy tools that you can use to quickly identify how your Users are configured.

Effective Abilities Tool

The Effective Abilities tool allows you to get an overview of the abilities a User will inherit for a specific Site based on their Site Role. To use the tool:

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Click Users.
  3. Click the User in question.
  4. Click More > Effective Abilities.
  5. Select the Site in question.

Once a Site is selected, you'll be presented with a list of Site Role Abilities along with whether or not those abilities are enabled for the user in that Site.

Assume Identity Tool

This tool can be used not only to get a quick visual representation of what a user sees in the system, but also what they can do in different Sites. To use the tool:

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Click Users.
  3. Click the User in question.
  4. Click More > Assume Identity.

After assuming a user’s identity, you'll see what the user sees when they're logged into the system. You can switch back to your identity by clicking on your user avatar or letter in the top-right hand corner of the interface and then clicking Resume normal identity.
