How can I find which Java installation my Cascade CMS instance is using?

To find the Java installation your Cascade CMS instance is using, check the boot script for your environment.

Linux, *nix, and macOS

  1. Navigate to the Cascade CMS installation directory.
  2. View or edit the cascade.sh file.
  3. Find the JRE_HOME variable on the top line, for example:

export JRE_HOME="/usr/local/java/jre"

Windows, running as a service

  1. Navigate to the Cascade CMS installation directory.
  2. Right-click tomcat/bin/CascadeCMSw.exe and select Run as Administrator.
  3. Click the Java tab.
  4. Read the Java Virtual Machine field, for example:

C:\Program Files\Cascade CMS\java\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll

In this case the Java installation is at C:\Program Files\Cascade CMS\java\jre.

Windows, from the command line

  1. Navigate to the Cascade CMS installation directory.
  2. View or edit the cascade.bat file.
  3. Find the JRE_HOME variable near the top, for example:

set JRE_HOME=C:\Program Files\Cascade CMS\java\jre

JVM details from inside the application

If your instance is running, you can read details about the JVM without touching the server:

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Click Logs and System Information.
  3. Click the System Information tab.

The General Information section shows the Java Version, Java Vendor, JVM Version, JVM Vendor, JVM Implementation, Java Runtime, and Java VM.
