How can I check what a User can do in a specific Site?

A user's abilities in a Site come from the Site Role assigned to them for that Site. Two tools tell you what that works out to in practice.

Effective Abilities tool

This gives an overview of the abilities a user inherits for a specific Site.

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Click Users.
  3. Click the user in question.
  4. Click More > Effective Abilities.
  5. Select the Site.

You get a list of Site Role Abilities and whether each is enabled for that user in that Site.

Assume Identity tool

This shows you the system as the user sees it, which covers both what they can see and what they can do.

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Click Users.
  3. Click the user in question.
  4. Click More > Assume Identity.

To switch back, click your user avatar in the top-right corner and click Resume normal identity.
