Could not put file with path 'FILE_PATH' onto server: Permission denied

When publishing, you may see the following error in your publish notifications:

Error occurred during SFTP transport: Could not put file with path 'FILE_PATH' onto server: Permission denied

This indicates that the SFTP account used to connect to the target server does not have write permission on the directory named in the message.

To resolve it, administrators should:

  1. In the CMS, switch into the Site in question.
  2. Click Manage Site.
  3. Click Destinations.
  4. Locate the Destination the error appeared for and click it.
  5. Click through to its Transport.
  6. Note the value in the Username field.
  7. On the web server's filesystem, navigate to the directory named in the error and confirm that account has Write permission on it.

Without direct access to the web server's filesystem, you'll need your web server administrator to confirm the SFTP account can write to every directory named in the errors.
