I won't open a connection to <ip address 1> (only to <ip address 2>)

When attempting to publish to an FTP server, you may see a message like the following:

I won't open a connection to <ip address 1> (only to <ip address 2>)

This typically indicates that the underlying Transport is configured to use Active FTP while the target server only supports Passive FTP. To address it:

  1. Edit the FTP Transport in question.
  2. Check Use Passive FTP (PASV).
  3. Submit.

The same setting resolves Accept timed out, which is the other symptom of an Active/Passive mismatch.
