Tags

Overview

Content Tags are keywords or terms assigned to assets. In Cascade CMS, tags help describe content and allow it to be found through searching or indexing.

Tags can also be used in combination with Index Blocks or Query API to index content on your published website and create related content sections or category listings.

Adding Tags to Content

When editing content, you can choose from existing site or system-wide tags, or create your own tags.

To add tags to content:

  1. Click Edit.
  2. In the Content tab, scroll to the Tags field.
  3. Select existing tags to apply to your content, or create new tags by typing your tag and selecting Add.
  4. Click Preview Draft and Submit.
Tags created when editing content will become site tags (see below) and will be immediately available for all users in the same site.

Site Tags

Site tags are available for all users creating and editing content within the same site. Site tags can be managed in the Manage Site area under Tags.

You can find assets using one or more tags by selecting them from the list and clicking Find assets that match selected tags (  ).

To create a site tag:

  1. Click Manage Site > Tags.
  2. Enter a new tag value and click Add Tag.
  3. Alternatively, create site tags by entering the new tag value in the Tags field when editing an asset.

To prevent tag duplication, you may not create a site tag with the same name as a system-wide tag and vice versa.

To delete a site tag:

  1. Click Manage Site > Tags.
  2. Select one or more tags from the list and click Delete (  ).

If the tag you're attempting to delete is in use, you'll be prompted to review the number of assets using the tag and confirm your deletion.

System-wide Tags

System-wide tags are available for all users creating and editing content in the system. System-wide tags can be managed in the Administration area under System-wide Tags.

You can find assets using one or more tags by selecting them from the list and clicking Find assets that match selected tags (  ).

To create a system-wide tag:

  1. Click Manage AdministrationSystem-wide Tags
  2. Select one or more tags from the list and click Delete (  ).

If the tag you're attempting to delete is in use, you'll be prompted to review the number of assets using the tag and confirm your deletion.

Note - If you move or copy an asset to a different site, all system-wide tags will remain assigned but any site tags that don't also exist in the new site will be dropped.
