Search

There are three ways to search content and metadata in Cascade Server.

1. Advanced Search Terms »
   Cascade Server 4.0 and higher offers increased search capabilities.
   1. Terms
      There are two types of terms: Single Terms and Phrases.
   2. Fields
      When performing a search you can either specify a field, or use the default field
   3. Wildcard Searches
      Cascade Server supports single and multiple character wildcard searches.
   4. Fuzzy Searches
      Cascade Server supports fuzzy searches based on the Levenshtein Distance, or Edit Distance algorithm
   5. Proximity Search
      Cascade Server supports finding words that are within a specific distance away.
   6. Boolean Operators
      Boolean operators allow terms to be combined through logic operators.
   7. Grouping
      Cascade Server supports using parentheses to group clauses to form sub queries.
    
2. Basic
   A basic search is based on the asset name, asset path, and/or asset contents.
3. Advanced
   To search content within the system, Metadata fields and filter asset types, use the Advanced Search tool.
4. Search and Replace
   This feature is available only to administrator-level users and functions exactly like the basic search feature, with the addition of the "replace with" text area.
