Using Structured Authoring
Structured authoring simply refers to pages that do not require formatting via the WYSIWYG. Instead, pages using structured authoring (also called data definitions) allow users to type plain text into various fields or select various options. The resulting page is automatically formatted to fit preset requirements. It's a quick and easy way to create or edit pages without worrying about the final formatting.
Pages using data definitions look just like any other page; however, when you open the page for editing, you will find a series of custom form fields rather than the usual WYSIWYG editor.
Above some text fields, you will see the following icons:
- + - This adds an extra text field directly below.
- ++ - This adds two extra text fields directly below.
- - - This deletes this field.
- up - This moves this field up one.
- double up - This moves this field up to the top.
- down - This moves this field down one.
- double down - This moves this field down to the bottom.
There may also be an image or link chooser. Clicking on the folder will open a chooser window, and clicking the X will remove the selected asset.
Any sections or fields marked with a * are required and must be filled out before submitting the page.
It is also possible to have pages that provide a WYSIWYG window as well as one or more structured fields.
When you are done editing the structured data, click Submit to save your page.
