Windows Installation

Installing Cascade Server

The following provides complete instructions on installing Cascade Server on Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003.  For production, we recommend either Microsoft Windows 2000 or 2003 Server.

  1. Download Cascade Server.  Please contact your account manager for access to the download site.
  2. Double-click Cascade-Install-{VERSION}.exe to run the installer.
  3. When prompted, choose the location for Cascade Server to be installed.  The default location is C:\CascadeServer.
  4. Once installation completes, you will have the option to install MSDE.  This is a free database for demo purposes, and should not be used in production.  Note - if you do need to install MSDE, you will be prompted to restart your computer.
  5. To install Cascade Server as a Windows Service, navigate to the {CASCADE_HOME}\cascade\bin folder and double-click InstallService.bat.

Now you will need to install and configure your database server. Continue to the database installation section.
