Search and Replace
This feature is available only to administrator-level users, and it functions exactly like the basic search feature, with the addition of the "replace with" text area. When run, the search returns a list of assets (blocks, pages, stylesheets, and templates) that match the search qualifications. You may then select assets on which to run the replace function.
To perform a Search and Replace:
- Select Tools -> Search -> Replace from the top navigation menu.
- Input search terms in one or more of the listed search fields:
Asset Name – The name of the asset being searched.
Asset Path – The folder name where the asset resides.
Asset Contents – The XML contained within the asset. - Click Submit to begin search.
- From the resulting list, select the assets for which you wish the term to be replaced. You may also select or deselect all to simplify the selection process.
- Enter the text you wish to be added in place of the search term.
- Click Submit to run the replace feature, and replace the selected terms in the chosen assets.
Additional Notes
It should be remembered that this is only a text replace. It does not check the validity of resulting XML, so it is possible that errors could be introduced when running a replace.
Assets edited in this manner will not be placed in workflow.
