Site Index
A site index is an alphabetical listing of all pages on a site. Site indices may also be created for individual sections of a site.
When creating your index block for a site index, select the following options:
- Folder to Index - Select the main folder for your site.
- Depth of Index - This is dependent on how many levels deep your site goes. It's typically best to choose a large number (100 or higher) to ensure that as your site grows, the site map will continue to render all pages.
- Max Rendered Assets - This is dependent on the number of pages in your site. Because you want the site map to render every page, it's best to enter 0 for unlimited assets to avoid any problems as your site grows.
- Indexed Asset Types - For most site maps, only pages and links need to be indexed.
- Rendering Behavior - Select Render normally, starting at the indexed folder.
- Page XML - Select Do not render page XML inline.
- Block XML - Select Do not render block XML inline.
- Indexed Asset Content - For most site indices, only user-supplied metadata is needed.
- Other Indexed Information - Do not check any options.
- Sort Method - Select Alphabetical.
These options will provide you with a usable index block that can then be plugged into a page region at the template, configuration set, or page level. Because a site index is typically used on only one page, it's best to add this block at the page level.
An XSL stylesheet must also be added to style and filter the results rendered by the index block. Examples are included with Cascade Server and can be found in the common folder.
