Cascade Server 5.2 Release Notes

Before Upgrading

Before Upgrading to Cascade Server 5.2 (from all versions)

• Please verify that there are no publish jobs in the Active Jobs publishing queue.

Before Upgrading to Cascade Server 5.2 (from 5.x)

• Shut down your currently running Cascade Server instance.

• Back-up your database. Copy any plug-in JARs to a temporary location.

• Move them into tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib in the base Cascade directory after you have upgraded and started the server once.

Before Upgrading to Cascade Server 5.2 (from 4.x)

• Shut down your currently running Cascade Server instance.

• Back-up your database.

• WARNINGS

  • MySQL 4.0 is no longer supported.  MySQL must be upgraded to version 4.1 or later before attempting to upgrade.  MySQL 5 is recommended.

  • Due to heavy database restructuring and optimizations, upgrading from Cascade Server 4.x may take several hours.  DO NOT interrupt the upgrade process until you can reach the log-in screen!

  • All custom plug-ins and libraries (asset factory plug-ins, publish triggers, custom authentication modules, etc.) used in Cascade Server 4.x will need to be manually migrated to Cascade Server 5.2 after the upgrade has been installed and the upgrade process has completed.  Copy them from cascade/server/default/lib directory (CS4.x) to   tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib in the base Cascade directory (CS5.2). Re-start Cascade to activate the plugins.

  • Contact Hannon Hill Support if deploying Cascade Server for the first in a load-balanced environment, as this will require a special license.

  • If you were involved with any Cascade Server 5 beta testing, make sure that you're upgrading against your 4.x database, as opposed to any intermediate databases.
