After a great response to our Cascade User Conference call for speakers initiative, we can offer over 20 sessions covering a wide range of topics for Cascade CMS beginners and highly technical users. There will also be a rich mix of strategic presentations given by education marketing thought leaders you might recognize.

As a small token of our appreciation, we honor those who offered to participate in this year's conference by introducing them to you in a Meet the Speakers Spotlight series.

We'll introduce you to speakers from our two workshops and technical and strategic track presentations over the next few weeks.

This week, we're exicted to highlight the speakers from the #CUC24 workshops:

Workshop Track 1

Elisabeth Hutzel joined the Hannon Hill team as a Web Developer in 2015. She's a pro at understanding customer needs, preferences, and overall vision and then putting it into action in her projects. As a Senior Web Developer, Elisabeth takes pride in completing complicated projects on time and to the highest degree of quality for each and every customer.

Nate Sims is a Web Services Developer on Hannon Hill’s Professional Services team. He works on implementing new client sites into Cascade CMS, adding new features to their current implementations, custom front-end code, and consulting clients when they are stuck or have questions regarding their implementation. Nate enjoys cooking, playing video games, caring for plants, and reading in his spare time!

Topics

Intro to Development in Cascade (morning session) 

Learn the basics of developing in Cascade, empowering you to make additions and changes to your existing implementation. The focus of this session will be data definition modifications and updating the corresponding Velocity to account for these changes. We will also cover basic coding concepts so that you can understand your current code base. 

Advanced Velocity Coding (afternoon session)

Take your Velocity coding skills to the next level with our “Advanced Velocity Coding” session. This workshop delves deep into Velocity’s advanced features and techniques, equipping participants with the expertise needed to tackle complex customization tasks. 

Requirements

Basic understanding of how entities in Cascade are set up, such as Templates, Configurations, Data Definitions, Content Types, etc. Understanding of fundamental programming concepts, such as variables, if/else logic, and loops. Participants are expected to have a solid understanding of basic Velocity scripting concepts or have gone to the Intro to Development session.

Fernando Blanco is a senior Web Developer on Hannon Hill's Professional Services team. He works on code and implements website designs for Cascade CMS. He also provides customized solutions for our clients as requested/needed.

Rebecca Crow joined Hannon Hill in 2019 as a web developer on the Professional Services team. She earned her undergraduate degree in organizational leadership from Purdue University, with a minor in computer information systems, and her MBA with a concentration in computer and information sciences from Colorado State University. Prior to joining Hannon Hill, she worked as an IT consultant for several Fortune 500 companies. She enjoys cooking, learning new skills, and playing with her dogs, Remy and Jamison.

Getting Started and Automating Content Management with Web Services

In an era of digital acceleration, leveraging web services to streamline content creation and management is paramount. Join our session on “Getting Started and Automating Content Management with Web Services” to discover the power of automation using Cascade Web Services. Requirements: Experience with Javascript, jQuery, and local development (MAMP)
