WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND A CUC26 WORKSHOP

Your CUC26 Workshop sessions are world-class, all-day, professional workshops designed to expand your and your team's technical knowledge in Cascade CMS on two specific topics.

These Workshops are led by senior members of the Cascade CMS team and will be held live, simultaneously, on March 3, 2026, the first day of the CUC26 conference. Please note that  Workshop admissions are separate from the General Conference.

These Workshops are technical sessions that will improve the breadth and depth of knowledge for utilizing Cascade CMS in web services (such as automation) and development within the Cascade CMS platform.

  1. Learn directly from our Senior Cascade CMS Team
  2. Interact with the Cascade CMS Team directly in a smaller setting
  3. Session spaces are intentionally limited for each topic to ensure a quality experience

Workshop Track 1

Web Services Essentials

In today's fast-paced digital world, leveraging web services can significantly improve how organizations create and manage content. Join this session to learn how Cascade Web Services can be used to automate and streamline tasks such as content creation, updates, and publishing. You'll discover how these services integrate with Cascade to reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and support more efficient content workflows. We'll walk through practical strategies and real-world examples to help you better understand what's possible with web services and how they can enhance productivity, consistency, and flexibility in your content operations.

Key Highlights

  • Working with Cascade Data: Fetch, update, and create content using Cascade’s REST API and JSON data.
  • Choosing the Right Approach: Learn when and how to use web services to streamline workflows.
  • Automation with Web Services: Discover how to reduce manual tasks and speed up content workflows.
  • Hands-On Practice: Apply what you’ve learned with exercises and real Cascade examples to build your web services skills.

Who Should Attend

  • Developers with basic familiarity of REST APIs and web services.
  • Developers who want to understand how web services work within Cascade.
  • Technical users interested in integrating external systems or automating workflows using web services.

Requirements

  • Experience with JavaScript (ES6+) and working with Promises, and familiarity with local development tools (such as VS Code or similar editors).
  • Basic understanding of how entities in Cascade are set-up, such as Templates, Configurations, Data Definitions, Content Types, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Metadata and Data Definition fields, and how they are used within Cascade.

Workshop Track 2

Cascade Developer Essentials

Learn the basics of developing in Cascade, empowering you to make additions and changes to your existing implementation. The focus of this workshop will be data definition modifications and updating the corresponding Velocity to account for these changes. We will also cover basic coding concepts so that you can understand your current code base.

Key Highlights

  • Moving Parts: Learn how to create and update the data definition, system template, configuration, metadata set & shared fields, so that you can update any content on the page.
  • Velocity: Learn programming basics in Velocity so that you can write better formats.
  • Formats: Discover how to create reusable Velocity scripts that can run anywhere on your pages and allow you to generate dynamic content and markup.
