At Hannon Hill, we believe personalization should feel effortless for both you and your website visitors. Our web personalization platform, Clive, has always made it easy to tailor experiences based on visitor attributes such as program interest, student type, or geographic region. Traditionally, these attributes were collected through form fills. For example, when a visitor registered for an open house and identified themselves as a transfer student.
That data could then be used to personalize their journey (like displaying a transfer student checklist) or to sync valuable insights with your CRM or marketing automation platform.
But what if you could personalize experiences without relying on form submissions at all?
Some of the most effective and ethical personalization happens without interrupting the user experience. That’s why we’re excited to announce Dynamic Visitor Attributes, a new Clive capability that automatically assigns visitor attributes based on behavioral signals.
Now, you can set attributes based on data like:
Segment – Tailor content based on predefined audience segments.
Geolocation – Adjust messaging by region or country.
Visited URL – Infer interest from the pages a visitor views.
Search Term – Capture intent directly from on-site search.
Last Visit – Re-engage returning visitors with relevant updates.
Number of Visits – Reward loyalty or prompt conversions based on engagement depth.
In the Visitor Attributes screen, you’ll now see a new section for Possible Values.
For example, if you want to assign “Health Sciences” to the Program of Interest attribute, you can specify a rule such as:
Visited URL contains “health-sciences.”

You can then create additional possible values following the same logic — e.g., “nursing,” “business,” “education,” and so on.
What if a visitor looks at multiple program pages? Should the system prioritize the one they visit most often, or the one they viewed most recently?
With Clive’s new Dynamic Visitor Attributes, you decide.
You can choose whether to prioritize:
Frequency (most visited pages)
Recency (most recently viewed)
Balanced approach (a smart mix of both)
Simply set your preference using the intuitive slider on the attribute setup screen.

Dynamic Visitor Attributes empower you to create highly relevant, privacy-conscious experiences without adding friction for your visitors. It’s personalization that learns and adapts automatically, so you can deliver the right content at the right moment, every time.
Dynamic Visitor Attributes are now available in Clive. Head to your Visitor Attributes settings to explore the new configuration options, experiment with different prioritization models, and start creating smarter, data-driven experiences.
And as always, we’d love your feedback.![]()
